The Countdown has Begun…. Just a
few more days and Rumney Village will be hopping with a grand parade, lots of
music, craft vendors, and food treats. We welcome folks coming from near and
far to join us on Old Home Day! See you on the Common!
The Library will be open from 9
until 1, pausing, of course, for the parade. We will have our usual Book Sale
starting at 9 am and continuing until noon. Jane will be displaying children’s
selections outside in front of the library. Shelia will be at the back of the
library with all the rest… many great selections. Payment is by donation with
the proceeds going to the purchase of new books. Thanks to all of you who
support our sale regularly.
Speaking of Old Home Day, this year’s theme is “It’s Your Story” and you (long timer or new, older or younger) are invited to share your story! Perhaps you might share a fond memory about what you like about living and working in Rumney or how you happened to make Rumney your home…Three recording options: On Old Home Day any time after the parade, be recorded at the church by a friend from the Historical Society; record yourself and email it to rumneyhistoricalsociety@gmail.com; or pick up a form at the OHD information booth, church, library or RHS museum to schedule a later time to be recorded.
One more thing…. Are you interested in learning more about the
history of Rumney? On Old Home Day, you are invited to stop by the Rumney
Baptist Church where you can view the continuous loop video of the history of
Rumney’s five original villages.
The Rumney Historical Museum will be open on Saturday from
after the parade until 4 pm…. A good chance to come in and take a look. If you
would like to join us in supporting our museum, you are invited to become a
member of the Rumney Historical Society… Annual membership for adults is $5 and
forms are available in the museum.
So Hats Off to the Old Home Day workers… Thank you!
See you
Saturday around the village!
