Happy December from all of us at Byron G Merrill Library! And how quickly December has arrived! We all enjoyed our Thanksgiving festivities with our families and friends. We returned to the library and a transformation quickly took place. We are ready for Christmas, seeing you, and starting the celebration!
We have planned a few special events and hope you will be able to join us.
• Wednesdays at 10 am Preschool Story Time With Jane... We’re inviting Moms, Dads, caretakers and little ones to join us on December 11th and 18th as we have fun together reading a story, singing a song, playing a game, and completing a craft.
• Thursday, Dec 12th at 2 ... Rumney Knitters. We will have the teapot brewing so bring along a project and join us for the afternoon. Everyone is invited! Perhaps you can being along something you’ve worked on for Christmas to inspire the rest of us! Beth will be away... hint, hint!
• Tuesday, December 17th at 7..... local resident John Allen will be reading the beloved A Child’s Christmas in Wales written by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and first recorded in 1952. The work is an anecdotal reminiscence of a Christmas from the viewpoint of a young boy, portraying a nostalgic and simpler time. Refreshments will be served following the reading. Mr. Allen has read at our library in years past and it is always a special time.
• Wednesday, December 18th from 6:30 until 8. The library will be decorated for the season and refreshments including tea, coffee, and punch will be offered as well as a variety of homemade cookies and snacks. Early in the evening, the children will be invited to join in our Candy Cane Parade as they proceed downstairs to Merrill Hall for a special time together listening to the book, "The Night Before Christmas". The evening will also offer some Christmas tunes played by Paul Ronci and later in the evening, we will encourage some caroling. This evening is a fun time to visit with friends and neighbors and, if you are new in town, a great time to meet others.
• Wednesday and Thursday, December 25 and 26, the library will be closed. We wish you all a wonderful day! The library will be open our regular hours on Saturday, December 28th.
