This Week at the Library - September 14th 2020

Some beautiful fall weather has arrived and we are feeling inspired! In case you didn’t know we seem to wilt with the hot temperatures...

We are planning a special surprise, a Story Walk, for our younger patrons on Saturday, that is, this Saturday 9/19/20 at 10 am for our debut. The story, In the Woods: Who’s Been There? by Lindsay Barrett George, will be in place for the next several weeks so you are invited to come as often as you like. The ‘story’ will begin in front of the library and you will just follow the arrows!  Plan to crawl, walk, or run and join us this Saturday! We send a big thank you to Ms Jane for making this all happen!

Several new fiction books arrived this week...

Masked Prey by John Sandford, the latest in this Lucas Davenport series... Senators, their families, some strange stuff on the internet... Can Lucas figure it all out??

All the Devils are Here by Louise Penny... #16 in her very much loved Three Pine series... Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surete du Quebec in investigating a sinister plot in the City of Light... Sign to get on the request list as this will be a popular read!

Blindside by James Patterson... the newest Detective Michael Bennett thriller...the mayor of New York has a daughter who is missing and in danger. Detective Bennett has a son who is in prison. The two strike an intriguing deal...

The Guest List by Lucy Foley... It’s the wedding of the year as family and friends gather for this happy event on a remote island off the coast of Ireland. Everyone on the island has a secret. Everyone has a motive. And someone will not leave this island alive....

The Book Party by Karen Dukess... a propulsive tale of ambition and romance set in the publishing world of 1980s New York and the timeless beaches of Cape Cod... we see what happens when youth and experience collide and what it takes to find your own voice. (I loved it!)

Looking for a book to read? Email us! Books can be set out for you on my porch or you can make an appointment and stop in at the library.  (sturbyne@rumneylibrary.org for adult books – jkelso@rumneylibrary.org for children’s books)

Wishing everyone a good week... Happy reading!

This Week at the Library... September 7th 2020

The library will be open on Wednesday, September 9th from 10 until noon and again on Saturday, September 12th from 2 until 5. We are continuing setting appointments for the time being so email me at sturbyne@rumneylibrary.org with your choice of day and time and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We will also continue filling requests and setting  your choices out on my porch for easy pick up. Email me at sturbyne@rumneylibrary.org for adult requests and Jane at jkelso@rumneylibrary.org for children’s books.

We thoroughly enjoy our ‘Junior Readers” (mostly grades 3-6) who come in regularly and share our love of reading. These enthusiastic readers now have their own room and this week we added a new rug and colorful posters making it a fun place to hang out. We encourage all Moms and Dads to bring their kids to our library and see the changes.

Our Junior Room has several new books. Fans of the Warrior books by Erin Hunter will be pleased to know that a new series, The Broken Code, has just begun! We have #1 Lost Stars, #2 The Silent Thaw, and #3 Veil of Shadows on our shelves. Just so you know #4 will not be available until mid-November. Do you enjoy a good ‘who dun it’? Perhaps you will get swept up in the adventures that Kari and Lucas have as they solve a bunch of mysteries. We have the first three volumes of this new series by Susan Runholt. We have also added two new I Spy books... I Spy Extreme Challenger and I Spy Treasure Hunt both by Jean Marzollo. You will find these two books in the Junior Room in the Kid’s Fun section where you will find some other fun books as well.

We have a few fun activities planned for our Juniors in the weeks ahead so we ask that each of you register for these events in order that we may be able to contact you. You may do a one-time registration when you visit the library or you may email Jane at jkelso@rumneylibrary.org

We wish everyone a safe, happy week.
