This Week - February 28 2022

Big news from the library this week…our Button Up project is complete! Attic air leaks have been filled and all new insulation is now in place. The main floor windows have received attention as well. We thank Jason and the whole crew from Shakes and Shingles for their wonderful attention to our very special hundred-year-old library. We also thank everyone who supported our book sales and made generous donations to this very much needed project. What a great community!

Our Hours...Mondays 10 - 1, Wednesdays 1 - 5 and Saturdays 10 - 1  March is just around the corner and the days are getting longer - time to return to our 'regular hours'

Monday, Feb 28th 10-12 - Family Fun Time – Come join us for a few planned activities and time for play and socializing. Ms Jane will be reading Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathmann.

Thursday, March, 2 1-3 You are invited to help us organize  our Rumney historical memorabilia that is housed in the library. We ask everyone to take a look around their homes for Rumney Town Reports that you might consider donating to the Rumney Historical Society. You are welcome to bring them to the library or leave them in the box on my porch at 36 Buffalo Road. In a few weeks we will be inventorying our supply and setting several copies of each in the vault for safe keeping. Won’t you join us on Thursday?

All Month Long... The month of March is all about reading, thanks to Read Across America. This year the focus is highlighting books that everyone can see themselves reflected in, as well as showing readers of all ages a world or character that might be different from them or their experiences. We invite you all to broaden your horizons and have set out many good reads to whet your appetite!! (I have just begun In the Midst of Winter, a novel by Isabel Allende. The words just flow as I am getting familiar with a trio of characters from America, Guatemala and Chile.)

Kick Start Your Week… with a visit to the library…so many great reads, so little time! Things are still a bit chaotic as we are still returning items to the attic for storage, but we are able to work around everything as we wait for Monday and our favorite Dads to lend a hand.

Wishing you all a good week… Susan and the Library Ladies
