November 11 we celebrate Veterans Day as we honor our military
veterans. It coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are
celebrated in other countries that mark the end of WWI, which formally ended at
the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
Our flag will be out honoring those who served and we will be open from 1 until
5 that day.
Just a
reminder, you do not need an appointment. We are counting noses and monitoring
our numbers. You may be asked to wait outside for a moment. Porch-side pickup
is also continuing... return your bag and we will refill it! Include a note if
there is a particular book you are looking for.
Agatha
Christie Mysteries Update... We had two enthusiastic messages
from patrons who checked out Ms Christie books this past week. I am remembering
that my dear aunts introduced me to Miss Marple when I was a middle schooler!
We still have several to choose from so stop in or place a request.
Special
Message for our YA readers and especially EN and NR... We
have added #7 Monster, #8 Villain, and #9 Hero to our GONE saga...
Back to
the Classics... When asked if there are any classic novels that
he has only recently read, a NY Times reader shared the following: “My son, who
is a voracious reader, had told me how much he liked John Steinbeck’s East
of Eden. I tried it and was captivated. It really is the Great American
Novel, beginning on the East Coast and moving to the West, spanning America’s
rise from an agricultural nation to an industrial powerhouse.” We have the book
waiting for you as well as Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of
Wrath, and The Winter of Our Discontent.
See you at the library... Wednesdays 1 – 5 and Saturdays 10 -
12
