Here’s to 2021 and the return of Old Home Day! The OHC has been working hard with their plans to make this Saturday, August 14th, fun for everyone…. We are posting a few of the highlights!
The parade will
start promptly at 10 am and come down Main Street to the common. Plan to arrive
early and reserve your viewing spot! Food, crafts and entertainment will continue
throughout the day and the church will be serving a free dinner at 5. The early
evening will bring a few competitive activities, ice cream, and fireworks!
Of special
interest will be open hours at the library and historical museum. The library
will open after the parade and stay open until one with our book sale. At this
annual event, sales are by donation, so we hope you will stop by and help with
our “greening” up the library project. Plus we have a lot of great titles. Books
for children will be in front of the library and adult books will be inside and
outside by the rear door.
The Historical
Museum will be open in the afternoon. Robin Goldstein will have candle making and a
costume display from one until two for children. From one until four we will
have a scavenger hunt for families in the museum highlighting parts of our
collection. The Clippers and Obiters will be on hand with our updated
scrapbooks. New this year will be our Rumney Obituaries Binders and we
appreciate any family obituaries of Rumney folks that you might be able to add
to our collection.
Another special
event will take place at the gazebo on the common at two when author Marcia
Amidon Lusted will be offering a reading from a couple of books she has written
for elementary age children. Her books How Cars Drive Themselves and Sinking
of the Titanic have been well received.
